A healthy calf weighs 40 to 50 kg or more at the birth. A mature Holstein cow typically weighs 680 to 770 kg, and 145 to 165 cm tall at the shoulder. Holstein heifers should be breed by 11 to 14-month of age, when they weigh 317 to 400 kg of adult weigh. Generally, breeders’ plane for Holstein heifers to calve for the first time between 21 to 24 months of age. The gestation period is about nine and a half months..
